MEMORIES OF MAYA MODERNITY I & II | COLLAGES :: 2008
These pieces are part of my design research in Mexico. I put together different media, materials, memories and symbolism, to communicate feelings and thoughts about some of the Maya villages and towns I visited during 2008 and 2009, in Quintana Roo, Mexico, representing modernity and Maya legacy.
Here, I used disposed wood (which is one of the most important materials used by local artisans), ephemera collected during the trips, receipts, photographs, and other natural materials, such as leaves and dry local fruit pods, along with transfer methods.
